Fly Graf's and Grislawski's aircraft

The Graf & Grislawski website has opened up cooperation with the artist behind Cpt Farrel's high-quality skins for aircraft used in the well-reputed computer flight simulator game IL-2/Forgotten Battles. Author Christer Bergström and Oleg Maddox, Lead Designer of IL-2/Forgotten Battles, have cooperated in exchange of information for many years. The computer flight simulator game IL-2 Sturmovik has earned reputation as one of the most realistic computer flight simulator games--as Georg Adam, former Luftwaffe fighter pilot expressed it: "It brings the feeling of aerial combat very close to real life." Now Oleg Maddox's development of "IL-2 Sturmovik"--IL-2/Forgotten Battles--brings us even closer to a realistic feeling.

For this reason, we are proud to announce that now one of the best artists for high-quality skins for aircraft used in IL-2/Forgotten Battles, has opened up cooperation with the Graf & Grislawski website. A new Graf & Grislawski page has been started on Cpt Farrel's IL-2 Forgotten Battles Skins site. What you can see there is the start of a possibility to bring IL-2/Forgotten Battles closer to events portrayed in the book Graf & Grislawski: A Pair of Aces. Users of IL-2/Forgotten Battles already now can freely download and fly Bf 109s with the camouflage and markings of some of the aircraft flown by Hermann Graf and Alfred Grislawski, in realistic theaters. An informal review states that Cpt Farrel's skins are "the most authentic skins available."

The Graf & Grislawski page on Cpt Farrel's IL-2 Forgotten Battles Skins site will be expanded through the addition of more skins--based on Claes Sundin's profiles in the book. It is also planned to create and add full missions based in detail on events portrayed in the book "Graf & Grislawski: A Pair of Aces". We will keep you updated when there are more updates on the Graf & Grislawski page on Cpt Farrel's site.

Comment by the author of Graf & Grislawski: A Pair of Aces, Christer Bergström: "I have never been a flight sim enthusiast, but when I recently got an opportunity to test the IL-2 Sturmovik game, I must admit that I became very impressed. I was surprised that it was so close to real flying, and I have to say that testing the IL-2 Sturmovik gave me some good insight into some flight maneuvers that could not--or should not!--be tested in real life. I had the opportunity to test some flight combat situations that were described to me in detail by Alfred Grislawski, and this actually gave me a better understanding of what Mr Grislawski really was talking about. I look forward to the development of Cpt Farrel's Graf & Grislawski page, and will definitely try the various missions that will be created upon events in the Graf & Grislawski book."

Message to IL-2/Forgotten Battles Missionbuilders:

The artist at Cpt Farrel's IL-2 Forgotten Battles Skins site has posted this message: "Together with Christer Bergström, the author of Graf and Grislawski: A pair of aces, I'm starting a project for Forgotten Battles. The aim is to recreate the missions flown by Graf and Grislawski on the eastern front. I'll be doing the skins for the missions but we also need some experienced mission builders for this project. You must be able to build detailed, complex singleplayer missions along the historical guidelines given by Christer Bergström and his book. This is not about making generally similar missions to the ones flown by Graf and Grislawski, but rather more an attempt to recreate exact missions. In other words, if you're good with the mission builder and interested in recreating a bit of history, contact me!"
